Dallas Keen provides only the best quality feeds and nutritional supplements for thoroughbred racehorses currently available on the market. He strives to stay on top of every new breakthrough in nutrition and provides each and every horse with exactly what it needs to be the best it can be.
Preventative maintenance is a very important part of keeping your horse healthy and keeping vet bills to a minimum. Every horse is individually analyzed on a daily basis to determine what method of treatment for their body, legs, and feet would best suit their need for that particular training day.
Most therapeutic treatments such as infrared blanket treatments, low frequency ultra sound, cold laser, and centurion foot pad treatments areincluded in your training fees, also know as a day rate. The only other bill you should incur would be a month farrier bill and your vet bill.
The Keen Stable also provides experienced grooms, exercise riders, and barn foremen to ensure the best of care to all of the horses in the stable. In the racing industry there is a large turn over of employees, Not so in the Dallas Keen Stable. Many of our employees have been with us for an extended period of time. This well run stable is obvious when you come for a visit.
Therapy Included In Your Day Rate
Horses in training in the Keen Stable receive many extra benefits that are included in the daily training fees. We use several different techniques to provide your horse with the best care available.
We have our own ice machine so every horse in our barn has their legs iced daily after training or walking. Anyone that has ever had a sprained ankle or wrist knows the benefit of ice. Applying ice within the first few minuets of a sprain can greatly reduce the time in which it takes to heal. Since horses are unable to tell us when something is just not right we feel it necessary to take no chances with this important part of the healing process.
The Centurion Laser Shower is one way we treat every day occurrences such as shin buck, body soreness, and even fluid on joints. We also use the Centurion Hoof Pad to aid in the treatment and prevention of sore feet and abscesses.
In certain cases of body soreness, nervousness or soft tissue injuries we prefer to use our Low Frequency Ultra Sound. This product is also know for it's detoxification aspects and well as it ability to reduce pain and swelling.
The Thermotex Infrared Blankets are a tool we use on nearly every horse in the barn. Horses love these warm pads and will relax to the point of almost falling asleep when we use them. They are very beneficial for horses that are prone to tying up or have been diagnoses as a bleeder. Sore shoulders and backs are greatly reduced when these blankets are used as a part of an everyday routine.
Security Of Your Investment and Ability To Check On Your Horses Anytime
Along with the quality care provided by the Keen Stable all horses are kept under 24hour security cameras and are constantly being monitored. The high tech multiple camera system allows Dallas to monitor the stable from any location via internet connection. It also can phone him if any unusual activity or movement is detected during monitoring hours such as a loose horse or unwelcomed company. If motion is detected the stable foreman along with track security are alerted and can be in the barn within seconds. You can be assured your horses are as safe as they could possibly be while in the stable of Dallas Keen.
As an added feature Dallas can install individual cameras for owners to veiw their horses anytime. You can log on 24 hours a day from anywhere there is internet access and see exactly what your horses are doing. Learning The Right Way
Horses Need The Basics
Young horses at Keen Farms are taught all the basics, not just how to go around the racetrack. What a developing horse learns in his first few months of training will affect him the rest of his racing career as well as his life after racing. We believe it is extremely important to teach all the basic skills to a young horse and to teach them to respect their handlers and grooms at the same time. These horses are athletes and need gentle discipline and guidance to be successful.
An unruly horse is dangerous to himself as well as others around him. Dallas Keen specializes in handling and retraining young horses and older horses that have been mishandled by other people. Pictured below is a spoiled filly sent to Dallas at the Fair Grounds last year. She was an 'outlaw' but turned around in the Keen Stable to become a successful money earner.
